The Isle of Islay: the home of malt whisky, great natural beauty, an abundance of native sea life, and StormCats, Scotland’s largest GRP Boat Building company.

It was the West Coast of Scotland, renowned for its North Atlantic swells and storms as much as its breathtaking scenery, which first inspired our trademark strength and resilience.
Tough, versatile, and exceptionally strong, our boats are built not just to survive in challenging weather conditions, they are built to excel. With their reinforced hulls and deep keels filled with solid fibreglass, our boats have incredible damage resistance and longevity. Heightened strength, combined with our unique, supplementary buoyancy systems, make our boats safer, more stable in the water and virtually maintenance free.
We have a wide range of designs to suit all purposes and budgets. All boats are custom built, using the highest quality materials, to your own individual needs and specifications. ‘Your dream, your boat, your layout.’
It was the need to find a sturdy, safe boat for his commercial Dive business which led StormCats Managing Director Gus Newman to design and build his very first boat – a Commercial Catamaran. Built from decades of experience on the water, the first Dive Charter ‘Braveheart’ set the standards to which all StormCats boats now adhere to: stronger than anything else on the market, highly durable, with reinforced hulls and keels, and with safety as a priority. Braveheart was built to excel even in the wildest weather conditions, and she did. All our catamarans are built to Lloyds special service class rules, and for charter boats, to the MCA code of practice to carry 12 passengers and 2 crew up to 60 miles offshore.
