How old to drive a boat?
I want to know how old you must be okay to drive a boat with a motor, and how old you have to be * if * there is an age limit for a former ship captain: large / medium / small wooden boats with sails.
Most states have laws must be between 18 and operator of a motor boat, 12 or higher if you are 18 years or more persons on board. For PWC 16-18 with safety certificate, plus 18 otherwise. These rules apply to any private boat with motor. If you plan to operate a charter boat in federal waterways then you should have a licensed captain. Here, age is not your problem. Get the experience and time passing the test are the main requirements.
